Canakkale is at a point where Europe meets Asia. It is also a coastal province that guards the strategic Dardanelles Strait which connects the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Troy
The legendary archaeological site of Troy from Homer's Iliad. The ruins are categorized in nine layers, spanning over 4,000 years of civilization. Travelers can visit the monumental defensive walls, view a replica of the mythic Trojan Horse and explore the nearby Museum of Troy. The replica horse from the movie 'Troy' (2004) starring Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom can be seen in the city center of Canakkale.
